(CNN)-- Norwegian violinist, Alexander Rybak, 23, won the Eurovision Song Contest with an upbeat ballad that got the most votes in the history of one of the world's most watched television shows. Last year's Norwegian winner Ulrikke's performance from the 2020 Melodi Grand Prix was shown on screen as well. During the show, we saw clips from former Eurovision entries like Serbia 2007, Russia 2008 and Moldova 2010. And if anyone should think that a wildcard participant can't win as they already lost onceโ€ฆ It was hhistoric in some ways - Dave Benton was the first black performer to win Eurovision and it was the first entry from a former Soviet country to win - but not, alas, musically. 63.
